Organicology

About

Organicology is a way of living, thinking, healing, being, growing, eating, shopping,… it is a lifestyle choice.

I started the journey in order of shopping, eating, and healing.  Naturally, I kept going.  Today it is my lifestyle, but even more importantly, it is my passion to educate others to be informed consumers in the area of organic & green living. Yes, I know there are a lot of “us” out there – educating on such topics – but I have found that even the “teachers” are green washing!  Ugh, it is so frustrating!

I don’t have any fancy credentials behind my name. Actually I decided a few years ago that I didn’t want them anyway.  I have no problem learning, my problem is conforming and repeating the cyclical world of academia.  What ever happened to self-thinkers, innovation, and creativity? How about authenticity? Or business practices that were genuine and principle-centered?

Authentic –  Oh, I can finally say I am authentic.  I spent years sipping coffee while sitting at a desk for 8 hours each day, just to receive a degree that would allow me to put credentials behind my name.   One day I realized that I no longer needed the credentials, but rather, desired to write the word authentic behind my name. I’m doing just that!

We live in a world where too much emphasis is put on empty credentials and not enough on core values.  As consumers we have the power to make real change. We can seek out products, services, and business opportunities that will significantly impact the health of our families, friends, and the planet.

Organicology is just the place to get started.

  1. Hi Stephanie -

I am REALLY impressed with your blog here. This is something I want to aspire to – being able to talk about things with authority and help people see what is so toxic about all the so called “natural and organic” products out there.

But what I don’t know from all this is what you actually USE in your daily life. You leave no indication if you use Tom’s of Maine, or Aveeno, or even Shaklee…what is it that you have found that is able to pass the test of completely organic and natural?

I see you have a seminar in OH soon – I would love to go to something like that, but I live in NC.

Please let me know if there is a way I can get the information or just speak with you online.

    Thanks!

    • Hi Laurel! Thank you for your compliment on my posts. I’ve just started to open the tap on what I’ve learned about the personal care industry in the past three years. Needless to say, I have a lot to share! It’s not only the personal care industry that is green washing, but zillions of blogs as well! There are so many “green” blogs reviewing “green” products that all contain chemicals that are damaging to the environment. So, I try to bring attention to that in my presentations, and now through my blog as well.

Have you heard of Miessence Organics? I found Organic & Natural Enterprise (ONE) Group two years ago in my search for a company that fit my green & organic criteria. This company is as pure as you’re truly going to get. We are certified organic to international food grade standards with our products carrying the ACO (Australian Certified Organic) and USDA logos. We are not about big fancy stuff, but rather about simplicity and sustainability. From recycling, wind power, and supporting environmental initiatives, we are really walking the talk. At any rate, my website is http://www.organicology.com. If you’d like more information, I’d be happy to share. But the purpose of my blog is not to focus on my business, but rather to inform others to be aware of what is really going on!

As far as my presentations, I’d be more than happy to do a webinar with you about the personal care industry and share what I’ve learned. Let me know if you are up for this and I’ll get it arranged.
